About

My name is Jo and I’ve always had a heart-on-my-sleeve, butterflies-in-my-stomach, overly optimistic way of looking at the world.

When I was a little girl, I spent all the money I could scrounge up on disposable cameras. My days were spent running around my little Iowa resort town, snapping where sand meets water meets sky. I distinctly remember the first time I held a digital camera in my hands.

My grandmother passed down her love of photographing nature; she took beautiful images of the roses in her garden. It took me a long time to be brave enough to venture into taking pictures of people rather than nature. After devastating loss, I recognized just how important my humans are.. and how important yours are, too, so there’s nowhere I’d rather be than documenting them.

I’m a 20-something gal married to a guy who makes me laugh until I snort.  My pups bring me so much joy.  We live in a little apartment steps away from a lake – I’ve always been a water baby and there’s few things I love more than the sounds of water hitting the shore.  I consider myself a Minnesotan, but I’ll always call Iowa home.  9 years in the city has taught me a thing or two about resiliency, independence, and who I want to be when I grow up. You can usually find me reading a book in my hammock or laughing over whiskey with someone I love. I believe in doughnuts for every celebration, that big earrings compliment every outfit, that music has the power to transport us, and, most of all, I believe in myself.  Let’s be pals.
